Captain's favourite anchorages - DREAM

The captain of DREAM shares his favourite places to drop anchor and explore. From swimming pigs to club dinners, there's something for everyone.

Te Akeake point, Bay of Islands, New Zealand

You’ll drop anchor in 5m of clear blue water between the islands Waewaetorea and Urupukapuka. This channel is a fantastic playground for paddle boarding or kayaking helped the tide, hopping from one sandy beach to another. Hiking one of the trails on Urupukapuka in the late afternoon is a must – surrounded by birds and local fauna, you can watch the sun sink below the horizon and beautiful illuminate your yacht.

Saint Joseph, Seychelles

After dropping anchor in in the deep water between St Joseph and d’Arros, you can explore the lagoon’s incredible potential for paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling in shallow, crystal clear blue water. There are thousands of colourful fish that are ducking and diving from bigger predators in these protected seas. When you’re hungry after your swim, the crew can prepare you a delicious BBQ on St Joseph Island. Back on board, enjoy the spectacle of hundreds of sharks effortlessly engulfing fish as they move slowly through the waters with their mouths wide open.

Piana island, Corsica

This is a beautiful anchorage in the Strait of Bonifacio, a couple of ship’s length away from Golf of Sperone - where the guests can play at one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Med whilst overlooking the yacht, anchored at a short distance from the white sand banks of Piana island. The sand bank is quiet in the late afternoon, making it the ideal spot to enjoy cocktail hour while dipping your feet into the warm, pristine shallows.

Buyukaga bay, Turkey

If you like Mediterranean moorings with a couple of lines ashore in a secluded bay, Buyugkaga bay will be your new favourite spot. Protected from the western winds in the shade of pine trees and 15 meters away from the cliffs, you can enjoy the privacy of these waters all day long, hidden from the crowd. A light breeze carries through the decks, carrying the sweet smells of the nearby forest. Guests can enjoy a dip in the calm water from the swim platform that will be sure to refresh you from the hot Turkish summer sun.

Thunderball Grotto, Bahamas

A beautiful anchorage West of Staniel Cay in 5m of turquoise waters and white sand. At low tide, you can snorkel with the colourful marine life in a cave where the eponymous James Bond movie was shot.

Take advantage of the high tide later in the day to hop across to the island north of Staniel to feed the swimming pigs. The day ends with dinner ashore at Staniel Cay yacht club.
