Broker on Board: Join Tim in the Balearics
Published 28 février 2020
Burgess Broker Tim Jeffery got adventurous in the beautiful Balearics as he boarded ARADOS for a three-day cruise.
Following a change of owner and a recent refit, the 47m (155ft) ARADOS is back on the charter market and ready to cruise the waters of the Balearics this summer. I was invited to spend a few days aboard to sample everything from the chef’s creations to the Captain’s Spanish itinerary. This is a vital part of our job as charter brokers, as it allows us to offer impartial advice and informed decisions when assisting clients on their next charter vacation.
THE YACHT
At 47m (155ft), what struck me most was how spacious ARADOS is. With accommodation catering for 10 guests, it was clear that this is an ideal choice for a party made up for both friends and families. Inside you can find a full beam master plus 2 VIP cabins, all located on the same level. A further 2 convertibles are available as well on the lower deck. Outside, deck space is vast allowing guests social time as well as complete privacy. Sun bathing pads are located on the bridge deck aft, sun deck and bow, plus a jacuzzi makes lazy days all that much better.
THE ITINERARY
I boarded ARADOS in the beautiful Spanish city of Barcelona directly after the MYBA charter Show at the beginning of May. From here, we cruised to the port of Sa Calobra on the northwest coast of Mallorca. We were the only yacht in the water as we dropped anchor in a beautiful cove surrounded by the dramatic landscape of the Tramuntana mountains. The crossing was also an experience itself when a pod of dolphins joined us on our journey. Once we arrived, we enjoyed an alfresco lunch prepared by the on-board chef before hitting the waters, as the crew launched the array of watertoys. Since they are RYA certified, they could teach guests on the safe usage of motorised equipment such as jetskis. The next day we made the most of our surroundings and embarked on a hike along the GR221(old fisherman’s trail). A shore guide was arranged for us who expertly lead us across some of the most beautiful terrain. Olive Groves, picturesque local villages, and wild terrain made the journey tough but exciting. The yacht then met us in Cala de Deia, where the crew had already prepared a BBQ feast. We moved positions towards Palma where we spent the night and then spent our last day exploring the exciting city.
THE CREW
Each crew member played a vital role in ensuring guests had an excellent time. Captain Matt was particularly great with constant updates on the unpredictable weather we were experiencing and presenting alternate recommendations when needed. The Chief Stewardess, Sarah, was very good in her role as she was always available to answer any questions and to provide the level of service required.
WHY CHARTER ARADOS
I would certainly charter ARADOS as the combination of crew and yacht perfectly coincided with each other. The crew was fantastic yet extremely welcoming and knowledgeable as well. The yacht has 5 cabins (1 master, 2 VIP and 2 convertible cabins) with a modern yet comfortable interior, which is equally matched by the great exterior spaces on offer. ARADOS provided a high level of service along with comfort and quality.
ANYTHING ELSE?
When at anchor, the yacht has balconies which fold down, allowing guests to relax, enjoy a glass of wine, or even jump off the side of the yacht into the water.
