Malcolm is a marine electrical engineer in the Burgess New Construction team. He joined Burgess in 2015, having spent eight years working in classification plan and approval of electrical and automation systems for ABS. He started his career as an avionics technician in the Royal Air Force, working on Lightning fighters and VC10 transport aircraft, and also developed a passion for sailing. Upon leaving the RAF he worked for Garmin, and as electronics officer during the build of BOADICEA at Amels.
Following this he spent two years as a project engineer with Destiny Yachts in Fort Lauderdale, then returned to the UK in 2003 to work as a contractor at HM Dockyard Devonport where he served as ship’s liaison officer on board HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark during maintenance periods. He relocated to the Netherlands in 2006, working on yacht projects for IMTECH and then for Alewijnse based in the Oceanco shipyard in Alblasserdam. Now settled in the UK, Malcolm is an enthusiastic supporter of the National Centre for Circus Arts in Hoxton where he can often be found several metres in the air on a trapeze.
