PROJECT FOX - a broker's view.
Published 01 April 2022
'If there's one thing we've learned after the last couple of years, it's that life is for living,' says Broker Ian Sherwood. 'Life is about feeling, experiencing, going and doing, being in the moment, because life is happening now. Who knows where we might be in another 10 or 20 years?'
Sherwood articulates well the current zeitgeist that gratification deferred is experience denied. That's why he's so excited about PROJECT FOX, a new type of uniquely capable expedition yacht that's only a year from delivery.
She is currently in build at Pendennis, a UK shipyard well known for its award-winning refits. Delivery is scheduled for spring 2023 and everything is on track for that. However the beach house-style interiors by Q London have not yet been fitted out so there is still time to add your unique style to the yacht.
Despite measuring 34.9m (114.3ft) with 295GT of internal volume, PROJECT FOX has a vast 103.5sqm (1,114sqft) aft deck, the sort of space you might usually expect to find on an explorer yacht over twice the size, or on a support vessel following the mother yacht - a role that would also suit PROJECT FOX. Add two 2.5T SWL deck cranes and that's more than enough space for a selection of toys that enables serious adventures, real once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Let's unpack this yacht's tender and toy carrying capacity and what it enables. She could carry two 7.5m (24.6ft) RIB tenders if you wanted to explore the lower reaches of the Amazon or the natural outback wonders of Kimberley in Australia. She could carry amphibious vehicles, snowmobiles and a submersible if you want to track polar bears in Norway as the Northern Lights dazzle overhead, or dive with orca in Antarctica. This is a yacht that lets you dust off your bucket list and start turning dreams into reality.
With the toys launched, the space promotes relaxation and entertainment. There's a DJ station for al fresco parties, open-air dining and bar with optional shade from awnings. The upper deck's glass-walled family room or media sky lounge, with a wine cellar in the lobby, opens onto a 46sqm (495sqft) terrace with BBQ and more open-air dining, as well as walkaround sidedecks that lead to lounge seating forward of the bridge and deliver 360-degree views of your environment.
She sleeps eight guests in four suites, including two owner's suites, both full beam and en suite. One is forward on the main deck and the second is aft on the lower deck, where there are also two convertible guest suites. There is also accommodation for up to seven crew - or staff if you need expert guides for your adventures.
Twin Caterpillar C18 ACERT diesel engines give her a transatlantic range of 3,600nm, more than enough to open up any part of the world. CMC Marine stabilisers keep the yacht on an even keel whatever the sea state, at anchor or underway, so she's not just for seasoned seadogs.
She is on the market with an asking price of EUR 15,500,000. To put that figure in context, we have on our books another explorer yacht with comparable deck space and she is over 80m long and asking more than EUR 100,000,000. That's what makes PROJECT FOX a unique prospect, full expedition capability at a fraction of the cost.
