Finance that fits: 'game-changing' owner dashboard upgrades.

More services, more value added
Owners with Burgess Yacht Management are set to experience a new and improved finance dashboard that in due course will enable many of the features owners have been requesting.
To find out more, we spoke to Alexander Dye, Head of Yacht Management Finance.
What is happening to our clients’ finance dashboard?
In the short term we’re updating Zap and Sage X3 and moving them both to new servers. This will improve security and stability and deliver faster response times.
When is this happening?
The switch starts on Friday 25 August and will complete on Tuesday 29 August. We’ll email new links to all our Sage X3 and Zap users so they can access their finance details. Usernames and passwords will remain the same to keep the journey as simple as possible. There will be communication with the yachts via email, Fleet Circular and the Yacht Managers are fully briefed as well. We’re making these changes to prepare the ground for an innovative new owner service launching in the fourth quarter.
Why does this matter to clients?
The whole purpose of this platform is to make our value-add even greater. It’s quite exciting for us in finance because it’s going to unlock a whole world of possibilities for what we can do in the future to use Sage to make our clients’ lives a lot easier.
I would hope that in the next 6-12 months we can launch game-changing new products that our clients have been asking for, like purchase invoice automation, purchase orders and the ability to produce an insight reports dashboard out of Sage X3.
Why are we installing Sage X3 version 12?
It’s the latest version of a well-known, transparent, auditable professional accounting package, Sage’s jewel-in-the-crown, cloud-based product. There are other accounting packages out there and some of our competitors use them, but in our experience they don’t provide that transparent, auditable, ease-of-access reporting that can easily slide into a wider property or asset portfolio. Our accounting software definitely does that.
This is a significant investment in time and money from Burgess. It's been nine months and tens of thousands of pounds in the planning but it goes to show our focus is on providing the latest finance package for our clients. It’s about providing the best possible service, robust, stable and secure for our clients’ money.
How else does Burgess add value for clients?
While we’ve got the package and the system, that’s only half the story as we also have 18 qualified and part-qualified accountants that sit behind that and are on phone and email to provide support and insight.
These are people who know accounting and finance and are there to run checks and balances for our clients. Our accountants are there to add value, not just to process payments and push buttons but to deliver the next level of insight and control to keep our clients’ money safe and secure. We’re very much geared as an extension of the owner’s office. We pride ourselves on working with clients and being available not only to produce the results but also to explain them and give them context. The new system will definitely help us to deliver that service and then some.
