More awards for Burgess New Construction
The game-changing 107.6m (352.9ft) Benetti LUMINOSITY has won the award in the category Displacement Motor Yachts 3,000GT and above. This extraordinary yacht demanded that we, as project managers throughout the entire build process, worked collaboratively with the build team, designers and shipyard to push the boundaries of design, technology and construction and redefine what is possible. Huge congratulations to all involved.
'The LUMINOSITY project was all-absorbing from the outset,' says Sean Bianchi, naval architect and Head of Burgess New Construction. 'The passion and vision of the build team was the catalyst that inspired everyone on the project to look at better, more efficient and novel ways of driving the project to the best each individual or contributor could achieve.'
The list of stand-out features in her 5,844GT of interior volume is remarkable. She features 800sqm (8,610sqft) of floor-to-ceiling glazing, including on the main deck where headroom is 3m (9.8ft). She has an interactive video wall that extends along the main deck and up all decks in the stairwell, as well as a motion-sensing, nature-inspired kinetic design feature in the dining room.
An incredible sea level gym and beach club occupies the full beam of the yacht and has sea terraces either side. The beach club has a plunge pool maintained to a temperature of 4C and a 30sqm (323sqft) swimming pool with underwater audio and a floor that rises to become a dancefloor.
The build was overseen and project managed by the Burgess New Construction team who, from the initial concept discussions through to delivery in an unprecedented year, supported and developed the visionary ideas behind the yacht. The World Superyacht Awards judges felt that LUMINOSITY was a worthy winner.
Technologically she has a super-efficient hybrid propulsion system using Azipod drives and a vast battery bank that give her silent-running capacity as well as hugely reduced vibration, noise and emissions.
'It amazes me how many novel and unique elements we managed to incorporate,' adds Bianchi. 'From the largest glass panels installed on a yacht to the largest battery system and the highest specification of AV and IT system - and that's before you consider the unique elements of the interior design and outfitting.
'It has been challenging for us all but hugely rewarding at the same time - and you don't make advances without being pushed hard so LUMINOSITY pays huge credit to the build team too. This was a truly unique project that will be remembered for a very, very long time.'
